IBEW

Alsip, IL
The new renewable energy training field at the IBEW-NECA Technical Institute features a sprawling campus 15 miles southwest of downtown Chicago, boasting photovoltaic, wind, building automation and smart metering facilities. The project is the largest outdoor training campus of its kind in the country and is one of the Midwest’s first net zero energy facilities, meaning it creates more energy than it consumes.

The shell of the 4,500 square foot net zero energy building was created with insulated precast wall panels. The building will be used to train union electricians in the latest sustainable technologies.
