Hononegah High School Field House
Rockton, IL
When Hononegah High School’s athletic dome collapsed, the school found itself without a field house or adequate space for athletic activities. Following the school district’s successful referendum, a roughly 90,000-square-foot, two-story field house featuring a 200-meter track plus pole vault, long jump, high jump, and shot put; seating for 2,500 spectators; competition courts for basketball and volleyball; three synthetic flooring practice courts; two patting cages; fitness center; multi-lane synthetic turf field for strength and agility training; and multi-purposes room.
Nearly two hundred 12” thick, 12’ wide, and 42’ tall panels were used on the project. Panels were designed as load bearing and featured a thin brick finish to match the exterior of the existing building. Additionally, the integral color on the non-brick panels eliminated the need for later staining of the panels.
Hononegah High School will enjoy the long-term benefits of using precast concrete, include energy efficiency, strong durability, storm resistance, functional resilience, long service life, and so much more.
